Caring for Hand-Painted Leather

Hand-painted leather deserves gentle care. Our shoes are handmade in Italy and painted in the US using waterproof leather paints and a protective finisher. Waterproof paint does not make the entire shoe waterproof.

Remove dust gently

After wear, wipe away surface dust with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid vigorous rubbing over the artwork. For a mark that does not lift easily, ask us for advice before trying a cleaning product.

If your shoes get wet

Blot moisture gently with a dry cloth and let the shoes air-dry naturally. Keep them away from radiators, hair dryers and other direct heat. Avoid soaking the leather or leaving shoes in standing water.

Be careful with leather products

Cleaners, conditioners and polishes designed for plain leather may behave differently on painted finishes. Before applying anything, contact us with the product name and a photo of the area you want to treat. Do not assume a product is suitable simply because it says “leather” on the label.

Store them thoughtfully

Keep your shoes in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Shoe trees or gentle paper stuffing can help hold their shape between wears. Allow damp shoes to dry before putting them away.
